Research has shown that the earlier you teach your baby how to read, the faster they will learn once they enter school, and the more confident they will feel.

How do you teach a baby to read? After all a baby is just that, a baby. Well there are several methods that have been proven to work, and they all have one thing in common. The methods are always easy and fun for your baby to follow. In the following paragraphs you will find simple methods that you can use to teach your baby how to read.

1. If you want an easy method for your baby to learn how to read, there are several products you can buy over the internet, in book stores or through television. One of the latest systems that has become very popular is Your baby can read-early development system.

This system includes a DVD set, sliding word cards, lift-a-flap books, word game cards, dual side cards and a Dr. Titzer’s how-to parent guide.

Although this system has a lot of tools you can use to teach your baby how to read, the most important thing is that this system is fun and easy for your baby to follow.

2. Although you can use a book to teach your baby how to read, babies learn better by following patterns. Many parents teach their baby how to read by constantly and repetitively showing their baby colors, saying words, and showing them pictures.

The most important thing when repeating a word to your baby is to show him/her what that word is.

For example if you say nose, touch your nose and your baby’s nose. If you say red show your baby a red paper. If you only say the word and do not show the meaning, your baby will not learn.

3. Note cards come in very handy when you are teaching your baby to read. It is important that when you use note cards, make the writing big and bold so it can catch your baby’s attention.

Once again, repetition, fun, and easy are the key words that you need to remember when teaching your baby to read.

Why should you teach your baby to read? Your baby’s brain does ninety percent of its growing in the first years of his/her life.

This means that a baby learns easier and faster in his first years. However it is extremely important to make the reading method easy and fun for your baby.

If you force a baby to read, your baby will most likely have a bad experience. Your baby will relate reading to something bad and will learn to dislike or even hate reading.

This is why, no matter the method you use, your baby must have fun while learning. That way your baby will want to learn.

It is also important to keep a schedule. This means that you need to pick a certain hour during the day, and everyday at the same time, teach your baby to read. After all, repetition is also an important key in teaching your baby to read.
