Ideas for Fun Baby Shower Games

Baby showers are a fun occasion. Everyone if happy to help the expectant mom celebrate as she prepares for the arrival of her new baby. If you are helping with the arrangement here are a few suggestions for baby shower games to help break the ice and have fun with.

Guess The Baby - This is a fun game to play because unless you've known the ladies all their lives that are attending the baby shower it's quite a challenge to pick their baby picture. Have the host of the party ask those who are coming to bring a baby picture of themselves. Have one person collect them when the guests arrive and then tack or tape them onto a poster board. Enjoy the smiles when everybody figures out who belongs to each picture.

Guess The Due Date - This one is always exciting to play because it’s a game of chance. Make it an interesting game and offer a gift certificate to a restaurant or department store for the person who guesses correctly. Have one person collect the guesses and keep them under lock and key until the baby is born. Let the all the participants know who won so they can rib them for guessing correctly.

Baby Libs - It's just like Mad Libs but you use the story of a baby and how they get into mischief. Its best to have some printed story pages available so that everybody can participate. Everybody will be laughing at the crazy things the baby does. It’s a fun time to be creative and it helps the new mom know that laughing is contagious. Here is an example of Mad Libs for a baby shower.

Diaper Race - This game requires a couple of baby dolls and some diapers. Teams of two compete against each other in this timed event. The object is to diaper the baby doll the fastest but each team member can only use one hand. They have to work together to accomplish the task. You will need a timekeeper to keep track of the fastest time in each round. The team that diapers the baby the quickest wins. There is an example of this game in one of the videos shown below.

Diaper Toss - Based on the game of basketball, most of the time parents have a diaper disposal method but that can get boring. Set up a trashcan a few feet away and see who can make the diaper in the pail. You can use the diapers from the diaper race so you're not wasting anything.

Original Onesies - This game requires some plain white onesies and some fabric markers. You can use a cardboard cutout to keep the colors from bleeding through the front. You can write just about anything on the front and color with any combination. This is a great way to have friends create some original onesies for your baby. They can write funny sayings or draw goofy faces. If you are meeting one of the guests for lunch you can dress your baby in the onesie so they can enjoy seeing their creation on your baby.

Who Can List The Most Baby Items? - All you need is some notebook paper, pens and at a timer. This game is fun because it tests your knowledge of how much you can remember about baby items. Have a person who starts the time so it's fair and then set the timer for two minutes. The challenge is to see how many more items you can list than your competitor.
