If you are a parent you probably know that baby care is not an easy thing, especially if you have multiple babies. Today I am going to talk to you about the do’s and don’ts in baby care.

If you follow these simple tips of what you should and should not do in the care of your baby, taking care of your baby will be much easier and less exhausting.

Do’s of Baby Care

  1. Home proof your house and make it a safe environment. This includes securing sharp objects like scissors and knives in high places that your baby can not reach.
  2. Using child-resistant outlet covers, which you could buy in hardware stores, cover all electrical openings that your baby can reach.
  3. If you have any live plants in your house, no matter the size or shape, place them in high secure places your baby can not reach. It is also recommended to know the names of the plants in case your baby accidentally ingests a piece of plant and becomes sick.
  4. If you live in a house, stairs could pose a danger to your baby. Although you always try to keep on eye in your baby it will be a good idea to install baby proof gates at the top and bottom of stairs.
  5. Babies love to climb on things so you have to make sure that all your furniture is sturdy and if you want to be extra cautious, you should secure furniture that could be easily tip over to the walls.
  6. During winter seasons radiators are hot so it is recommended to buy screened barriers to place in front of radiators to keep your baby from getting burned.

Don’ts of Baby Care

  1. Your baby is curious about everything in his surrounding. It is common for babies to find strings or cords and play with them. Your baby can accidentally strangle himself wile playing. Do not leave any strings or cords on the floor.
  2. If your baby sees any bright colorful liquids on bottles he may think they taste good and drink them. If your baby drinks any cleaning liquid or other harmful substances, like alcohol, it could be deadly. Do not leave these substances in the open where your baby can drink them.
  3. It is very natural to have certain medicines around the house, such as Tylenol and Advil. If your baby finds any spilled pills he may think they are candy and eat them, once again this could be deadly for your baby. Do not leave medicines were your baby can reach them, and if you spill any pills make sure to pick up every last one.
  4. You are bound to have pens, pencils, pins, and other daily utensils with pointy tips. Your baby can accidentally poke his eye out if he falls down when he has a pencil in his hand. Do not leave any unattended pens or pencils on the floor or in the reach of your baby.

Babies are naturally curious. The whole world is new to them I they want to explore it.

If you follow these simple tips on baby care, not only will your baby be much safer, you will also have more peace of mind.
